If the fever inspired by that shiny new gadget has finally overcome you and you’ve decided to get a new iPad, what do you do? Never fear, I’m here to help.

The first place to shop is the Apple website. I’ve purchased quite a few things via the web portal; it’s easy, the site is clean and well constructed, and shipping is free. If the urge to have your device is too great to put up with the growing shipping times, there are still options. For those of you that are fortunate enough to live in a city with an Apple store, you may still be able to score an iPad there. I didn’t brave my local Apple store, opting instead to preorder mine instead of facing the possibility of lines far longer that I’d like to queue in but your mileage may vary.
There are multiple online retailers with iPads in stock; MacMall being my personal suggestion. In addition, Apple has allowed a much larger number of retailers to carry their product in their stores: AT&T and Verizon both carry models specific to their respective services as well as Radio Shack, Target, Best Buy, Wal Mart, and Sam’s Wholesale Club.
If you’re particularly cost conscious and don’t need the latest and greatest Apple and several other retailers still have discounted iPad 2 models for sale- while not the newest and best they are still easily the next best tablet out there.
